Gradings:
AB: Mostly sound knots, occasional black knots, knotholes are filled with natural knot plugs, small filled knots, occasional pith ray, occasional resin pockets, no sapwood, slight compression wood and slight colour variations are possible, jointfree gluing, typical red-orange colour. Backing standard grading: closed jointing, knotholes are professionally filled.
B: Black knots possible, slight colour variations and colour streaks are possible, resin pockets, shakes professionally filled, knotholes are filled with natural knot plugs, filled knots, occasional slight compression wood, continuous pith ray possible, occasional sapwood possible, jointfree gluing.
Backing Standard: closed jointing, professionally filled with natural knot plugs, no blue-stain.
Backing C+: no special quality specifications, filled suface.
